Poles Apart AP
Poles APart AP
Poles APart AP is an independent alternative education provider supporting children and young people aged 4–18 across Devon and Cornwall.
The provision is designed for learners who may be struggling to engage in mainstream education or who require a more personalised and supportive approach. The focus is on helping young people rebuild confidence, develop positive relationships with learning, and prepare for future education, employment or training.
Students can access a broad curriculum that combines English, maths and Functional Skills with a wide range of practical, creative and vocational opportunities. Depending on individual needs and location, these may include construction, catering, beauty, art, music, outdoor learning and therapeutic activities.
Therapeutic support and targeted interventions form an important part of the provision, helping pupils address barriers to learning while developing emotional wellbeing, resilience and independence. Practical work experience and vocational learning are also available to help young people build confidence and gain skills for adult life.
Poles APart AP is a registered Open Awards examination centre, enabling learners to achieve nationally recognised Functional Skills qualifications in English and maths, alongside a range of vocational qualifications.
The organisation operates centres in Plymouth, Exeter, Tiverton and Bodmin and has achieved Trauma Informed Status. Its approach aims to provide safe, nurturing environments where children and young people can re-engage with education, develop new skills and work towards positive long-term outcomes.
