Newquay Orchard’s Growing Futures

Newquay Orchard’s Growing Futures programme provides alternative post-16 education for young people aged 16–18, or up to 24 with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), in a practical community setting in Newquay, Cornwall.

The provision supports learners, including young people with SEND and SEMH needs, through person-centred learning designed to build confidence, practical skills, independence and progression towards employment or further learning.

Learning

can include horticulture, woodwork, English and maths, teamwork, digital skills, employability and wider life skills. Recent Growing Futures activities have included online safety, everyday digital tasks, careers and employment-related learning.

Supported Internships & Work Experience

Newquay Orchard also has experience providing supported internships and work experience for young people with additional needs. Its 2024 impact report states that 42 young people attended Growing Futures, many with additional needs, while supported interns received 475 hours of work experience.

Accessibility

Ask provider. Newquay Orchard says reasonable adjustments can be made, but also states that the site is not fully accessible, particularly outdoor areas, because of site limitations.
