About Player Ready Level-Up! Cornwall
Player Ready Level-Up! provides technology-based alternative education and specialist mentoring for children and young people who may not thrive in a conventional school or college setting. Its Cornwall provision is based in Truro, with live online support available across the county.
The programme uses gaming, coding and digital creativity to build engagement, confidence and a more positive relationship with learning. Activities may include Minecraft, Roblox, virtual reality, robotics, coding, game design, digital art, animation, video editing and 3D modelling.
Provision is tailored around each learner’s interests, support needs and educational goals. Young people can receive consistent one-to-one mentoring or join carefully supported small groups. Online provision is also available for learners who find travel, anxiety, health or attendance difficult.
Player Ready supports learners with needs including autism, ADHD, anxiety, school avoidance, SEMH, PDA profiles, sensory differences and trauma. Sessions are designed to be calm, flexible and low pressure, with pacing adapted to the learner’s confidence, energy and ability to engage.
Alongside digital skills, learners can develop communication, emotional regulation, independence, problem-solving, functional English and maths, and employability skills. Progress can be linked to EHCP outcomes or other agreed education plans.
Learners may work towards AQA Unit Award Scheme certificates in areas such as coding, game design, digital creativity and employability. Eligible post-16 learners may also access nationally recognised NOCN qualifications in game development, digital skills and preparation for employment.
Player Ready is Ofsted registered and approved by Cornwall Council for online and venue-based alternative provision. Referrals can be made by schools, local authorities, professionals or parents, with funded and self-funded routes available.
A free discovery session is offered before provision begins, allowing families to meet the team and explore whether the approach is a suitable fit.

Important things to consider
The Truro venue is accessed by stairs and is not currently wheelchair accessible. The provision is usually part-time and may need to form part of a wider education package rather than providing a complete full-time curriculum.
