Nancealverne Sixth Form

Nancealverne Sixth Form provides specialist post-16 SEND education in Penzance, Cornwall, for young people with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). Part of the Special Partnership Trust, the provision supports young people with severe, profound and complex learning difficulties through personalised pathways focused on preparation for adulthood, independence, communication, work-related learning and future transitions.

The Sixth Form follows four pathways

Therapeutic, Independence, Pre-Vocational and Vocational — allowing learning to be adapted around individual needs, abilities and future aspirations. Students are supported to develop practical skills for adult life alongside their academic and personal development.

Learning can include independent living skills, preparing and cooking food, travel training, enterprise, using local services, careers education and work-related learning. Students can access individual work experience and employment opportunities within the local community where appropriate.

Nancealverne offers accredited learning and qualifications including ASDAN, Pearson/Edexcel Functional Skills in English and Maths and the Duke of Edinburgh Award. The programme is tailored according to pathway, with accredited learning introduced before progression to qualifications where appropriate.

Transition planning

an important part of the Post-16 offer. This can include exploring suitable college placements, alternative provision, community services and bespoke transition packages, alongside developing independence and planning EHCP outcomes for adult life.
